Sino-French Data & AI Lab @ SJTU

Founded in 2026, the Sino-French Data & AI Lab (中法数据科学与人工智能实验室) aims to structure research efforts in AI and data science conducted at the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology. Building on and naturally extending Prof. Salha-Galvan's research interests, the lab conducts fundamental research on AI algorithms, with particular emphasis on deep learning, large language models, and agentic systems, as well as broader work in applied mathematics. It also explores key applications across the lab members' areas of expertise, ranging from graph learning and recommender systems to music, finance, and education. With strong industry experience among several of its members, the lab places particular emphasis on translating research advances into tangible real-world impact.

What sets the lab apart within SJTU is its deeply rooted Sino-French international identity. Based within the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, the lab combines the academic strengths of SJTU, a leading Chinese university and member of the C9 League, with those of its partner French Grandes Écoles, including École Polytechnique, among the most selective higher education institutions in France. The lab includes SJTU faculty members, students from Chinese and French partner institutions, and industry collaborators from China, France, and beyond.
